Resident praises Dean for leadership/ integrity
I read with interest the article regarding the operation of the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. As a taxpayer and a citizen, I am concerned about the spending of tax dollars and my personal safety. However, after reading and investigating some of the statements attributed to Mr. Truesdell I believe we are best served by Sheriff Ed Dean.
OCALA — The political gamesmanship in the race for Marion County sheriff is in full swing on the Internet.
Four years ago, Sheriff Ed Dean used "www.eddeanforsheriff.com" as his campaign Web site. This time around, Dean's lone opponent so far, Republican Paul Truesdell, got to the domain name first.
An eight-person team of examiners from the Florida Sterling Council spent last week analyzing the Marion County Sheriff's Office, its policies and programs, inside and out. When they were through, they had little but praise for the department and its 900 employees.
"They truly are doing some very good things in how they try to serve this community," Sterling Council Executive Director Dione Geiger told us. " ... The people of Marion County should be very proud of what they're doing."
